Le protagoniste di questi lavori sono Hildegarda von Bingen, Jeanne Baret, Elizabeth Blackwell e Marianne North,  quattro donne che, in epoche diverse, hanno cercato di varcare i confini di una società fortemente patriarcale. Una società dove tutto, — in primis l’espressione e la credibilità delle loro ricerche e parole — veniva messo in discussione o, peggio, non preso nemmeno in considerazione. Ho trasformato le carte sulle quali venivano disegnate piante e fiori in grandi teli, gli stessi che fra l’altro vengono usati per proteggerle dal freddo dell’inverno. I loro volti vengono tradotti nella forma di una pianta. Una piante di nuova specie, che ho inventato come il nome che porta, che si unisce così alla concreta visionarietà di queste donne, esponendole in tutta la loro unicità e bellezza. Sono esempi a cui guardare ed ispirarsi, in tempi in cui, esplorare e andare in profondità, prendendoci tutto il tempo necessario, risulta difficilmente attuabile.

The protagonists of the works are Hildegarda von Bingen, Jeanne Baret, Elizabeth Blackwell and Marianne North, four women who in different eras tried to break through the barriers of a strongly patriarchal society. A society in which everything – first and foremost, the expression and credibility of their research and words – was questioned or, worse, not even taken into consideration. I have transformed the pages of drawings of plants and flowers into large canvases, the same canvases used to protect them from cold in winter. The women’s faces are translated by the artist into the form of a plant. A new species of plants that I hasve invented, along with the names they bear, thus merging with the vision of these women, showcasing them in all their uniqueness and beauty. They are examples to observe and draw inspiration from at a time when exploring and digging deep, taking all the time necessary, is no easy undertaking.
